Standards
As this competition is set up as a social outlet for 35 plus age groups, we would like to highlight some
areas that need to improve from last year, which are:
Competitiveness:
While we encourage players to strive and play at their best each game, we need everyone to take note that our competition
is about promoting a fun and enjoyable atmosphere and that winning games at all costs should not be the number one priority.
We want to promote fair play, and for players to enjoy the game for what it is… a fun kick around. We want to set an example
for children watching and to each other as fellow players about sportsmanship and a fair go.
We would also like to remind players that most of us are in our "golden years" and that we all realise one bad tackle could
end a career. Players wanting to play aggressively and at a high intensity should perhaps consider playing in another competition.
We want everyone to enjoy the game without the fear of any career ending tackles.

Back chatting / complaining to referees and linesmen:
We feel this is a major area which has to be addressed.
Players constantly complaining to referees or linesmen about decisions also seriously need to consider whether they
should be playing in this competition.
Referees this year will have the authority to yellow card or dismiss players for constant complaining and
for foul language directed at officials.
Such decisions will be fully supported by the committee. These offences will also entail a one game suspension and $25
fine with no appeal. Constant complainers/swearers will not be welcome to continue playing.
There was a general perception from our referees last year that some players were
constantly challenging decisions and complaining and in some cases abusing the officials. This will not be tolerated this season.
Without refs, we have no competition. We all need to remember this.
The rule should be to treat Refs and Linesmen as you would hope to be treated yourself if you were making the calls.
They are only Human. We are not at Premier League level and we don't pay them that much. We need them - not the other
way around. Most would probably rather be watching TV than being abused for adding some authority to our games.

Red Cards:
Players sent off for violent conduct (ie fighting and deliberate dangerous play) will receive an automatic 3 game
suspension plus a $50 fine before they play again, with no appeal accepted.
We want to stamp out aggressive and violent conduct and again remind players that this sort of behaviour is not
welcome or acceptable under any circumstances in this competition.
We have not set up the competition to serve as a release or for personal anger management.
Fortunately there were only a few such incidents last year - but this is a few too many for the committee.
The off season PCYC over 35 competition saw too much of all of the above behaviours and not enough effort to stamp this
out. We do not intend to let this happen here.
